Biodiversity

Essential for every living being

For a future in which we protect animals and treat them with respect.

Biodiversity is a central component of our ethical, environmental and social responsibility. More highly developed animals, in particular, can feel pain, fear and pleasure, as numerous scientific studies have confirmed. Animals are also indispensable for our ecosystems and contribute to the well-being of our community. Protecting animals means protecting the foundations of life on earth.

Work in progress: we will be featuring our first ‘Biodiversity’ projects and partnerships soon.

„The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

Minus 73 per cent

The average size of monitored wild vertebrate populations has decreased by 73 per cent in just 50 years (1970–2020).

One hundred times higher

The extent of species extinction today is at least ten to one hundred times higher than the average of the last ten million years.

87 per cent

of marine species will be at risk of extinction by the year 2100 without conservation measures.

Nociceptors

The sensory cells that allow humans and other mammals, birds, reptiles and fish to feel pain are called nociceptors.
